Laconia (27-2) is the No. 1 seed for the Wisconsin Division 4 tournament and reached the championship game for the third straight season. After losing in the final in 2022, the Spartans broke through for their first state championship last year. On Saturday at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Laconia takes on Cuba City (25-4), the No. 3 seed which knocked off Chippewa Falls McDonell Catholic in the semifinals on Thursday. The Cubans are 10-time state champions but are in their first state tournament since 2015. McDonell Catholic moved up to Division 4 this year after claiming the Division 5 championship in 2023.

After a blocked shot, Ashley Rowe's runner in the paint gave Cuba City a 47-45 lead with less than 10 seconds remaining in the Cubans' upset of McDonell Catholic. Olivia Olson led the team with 22 points while Rowe finished with 11. This is Cuba City's 17th state tournament appearance, the most in state history.
Laconia led by four at halftime on Thursday before pulling away in the second half for a 67-49 victory over The Prairie School. Tierney Madigan finished with 20 poins and 16 rebounds while Molly Duel knocked down 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Finley Morgan added 13 points.
The Cubans' state titles came in 1977, 1980, 1990-91, 1993, 2005-07, 2010 and 2014-15 and they lost in the 2009 state final. The Spartans have reached the championship game in all four of their state tournament visits, also dropping the title game in 2019.
